According to the Irish Data Protection Commissioners Report 2015 (Published 21/06/2016), during 2015 the commissioner received a total of 2,317 data breach notifications which were recorded in Ireland from the period of 31st January to the 31st of December 2015.

As the report states, data breaches recorded over the last 5 years from 2011 to 2015 have risen by a staggeringly 98.54% from the 1167 data breaches recorded in 2011 to 2,317 recorded in 2015 and these were only the recorded ones.
